No one said we can't throwback on a Wednesday

Dear Diary,

It's the time of the year where NPSU Freshmen Orientation Camp is gonna be held and here I am penning down some thoughts of it. NPSU FOC is probably the best camp that I have ever been to and the whole experience will always have a special place in my heart. How will I ever forget such a memorable journey that made such a big impact to my polytechnic life?

So this whole journey began when I received my enrolment package from Ngee Ann Polytechnic and Wanni and I decided to apply for all the camps (Sports camp and NPSU FOC) so that we can make more friends (I think that was the reason) and have a better polytechnic experience. I actually got offered by both camps a slot to participate but they said that I can only pick one due to the limited slots that they have. And me being me, who rly follow almost every rule and law, I made a choice and went for NPSU FOC.

My FOC as a freshmen was an amazing experience because of all the different range of activities that bonded us as a whole. It was a 4 days 3 nights camp but somehow, time flew passed and before we knew it, it was the end of the camp. A few of us teared because we knew we were going to miss the times in the camp. It's funny how such a short time of bonding brought us close together.

And if you were expecting me to write what we've done in the camp, my apologies to make you disappointed because if I ever did a detailed post on what the camp is all about, it'll be no fun for all the future freshmen.

And so, days after FOC, we hang out frequently. We went for outings, movies, buffets, lepak and doing all sort of stuff together before school starts. Even when school starts, we had our Tuesdays Apollo Mazing lunches which was rly nice because we get to see each other again :')

We are really like a family. Everyone said we will forget one another after 6 months, but thank god that up to now, we still have meet ups once in a while and we still contact one another through Whatsapp and text messages. Even though it is really different as compared to how we have started, where we meet each other every day after school till 11pm, I can't be more thankful to have this wonderful bunch of people in my polytechnic life.

I can never ask for someone more genuine and patient than these girls.
And what are the chances that 3 out of 4 of us like the same Kpop band?

We used to take the same bus 74 to school each day and head back home together.
Plus, we had all sorts of souvenir exchange whenever we travel abroad.

And not forgetting Shir, Kinnon, Josh, Edwin, Chia Hui, Tao Guang, Ching, William, Jiaqi, Brennan and the rest

We then joined NPSU Sub committee where we were all assigned to different committee to improve the student life in NP.

And in a blink of an eye, the time of the year came. I got a phone call from Michelle and the GL preparation came rolling in. It was a gruelling 3 months preparation where fond memories were built out of it.
Our very first outing!!

Our group was called Onuris and almost everyday we stayed in school to prepare for the camp and bond. Here's some photos from Prep camp!

And once, we even stayed past midnight where we had to climb over the barriers to get out of school and cab was the only way to get home. 3 months passed really quickly and it was the annual laptop sales.

Before we knew it, we got to Day 0 of FOC. I had a weird mixed of emotions (worried/scared/excited/nervous/happy) because the long awaited Day 1 of FOC that all of us were preparing for is finally here.

We met our babies and somehow I got myself named as Bimbo. LOL, but I hope that that cracked some of them up and brought us closer.

Our kids are a really fun bunch and I can't be more than happy to have them in my group. And for the first time in my life, I did not sleep for >24 hours and I did not bath for >24 hours. But it was all worth it. And here's my fellow GLs of Ohana!

The fellow Apollo-ians!

And, everything didn't end after the camp

I felt that the whole GL process made me grow up quite a bit and I really do miss those time when we were in our preparation process. And seeing how hard everyone broke down at the end of the camp, I knew everyone gave their all and our year as a GL meant something more than just leading a group of freshmen. The 3 months preparation period was a tough yet enjoyable time where we went through quite a bit together. We were 12 individuals who are vastly different yet we managed to come together as one.

To everyone in Onuris, I miss you all :')

During my third year, I didn't manage to go back to help out. However, I went back on camp fire night to see how Kevin and Yunqing were doing, I can't help but tear :') but that doesn't mean that they mean more than the rest in Ohana.

I am not a person who constantly text / call people to chat with them which probably make people think that I don't care about them or they are not important to me. But in contrast they do and will always matter. And to everyone that I've met on this journey, thank you for making my journey in NP a much fulfilling one.

With love,
Shihui
